Shrek The Musical Did'nt Meet Expectations, Feb 14, 2012 |
| reviewer: Annoyed Disappointed Anonymous from UK |
| Went to watch Shrek The Musical recently and was expecting a 5star perfomance. Shrek came across as the character should be and had a very strong singing voice,Fiona (Kimberley Walsh) apart from the terrible accent did her best to try and depict the character as it should be. As for Donkey he was a real let down, waste of time and should be replaced! His voice was croaky,he seemed distracted and instead of coming across as 'Eddie Murphy' he was more 'Chris Tucker' and in scenes where paired up with Shrek he didn't seem as funny as he should have been let alone hitting the right singing notes. If anything this is a show for those with children and I personally would'nt recommend it to any adults. Richard Blackwood needs to stick to what he knows best stand-up or whatever he's into these days. |

Success for Shrek!, Jul 21, 2012 |

| I thoroughly enjoyed the matinee performance of Shrek I was lucky enough to attend. My only complaint would be that on a few occasions I found it difficult to hear some of what the actors were saying, but apart from that I think it was very much worth the cost of a ticket. I do feel sorry for Neil McDermott having to crawl around on his knees for most of the performance, and I found Richard Blackwell as Donkey very funny. |

Good but richard Blackwood looked bored!, Feb 15, 2013 |
| reviewer: Anonymous from London, |
| We went to watch Shrek this Feb 2013 half term. Although the children enjoyed most of the show (Dragon and lord farquaad - amazingly funny - saved the show) Richard Blackwood as Donkey was not great. we thought that for most of the time he looked like he was either grumpy, bored or just simply was disinterested. It was a shame because the role is so funny! He didn't do it justice. |
