Why See Coriolanus?

Off West EndShakespeare

Modern day re-vamp of Shakespeare's classic!

Coriolanus, a fearsome warrior but a reluctant leader. Pressured by his ambitious mother Coriolanus' path into parliament is forged for him. Coriolanus can't seem to shake his ruthless, soldier persona in order to become the leader he dreams to be.

His search for power leads him into dangerous allegiances which result in his ultimate demise. Angus Jackson, brings this Shakespearian war story into the modern day where Sope Dirisu takes the lead role.

As part of the RSC's Rome Season at the Barbican Centre in London, Coriolanus is the first instalment in the 2017 winter season. Angus Jackson, director of previous sell-out performances for the RSC, is taking direction of Rome MMXVII. This season will take a chronological approach to Shakespeare's Roman tragedies, following some key characters the season will document the rise and fall of the worlds biggest empire.
