The Barbican Theatre is part of the Barbican Centre in the City of London. The Barbican centre was opened in 1982 as a gift to the nation, hosting a wide range of productions and arts events, including classical and contemporary concerts, film screenings and art exhibitions. The venue is home to the London Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Shakespeare Company. The Barbican Theatre was designed solely for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
