Why See Hay Fever?

PlaysComedy Theatre

When acting is everything, what is real?

Felicity Kendal returns to the West End to light up the stage once again, this time as the utterly theatrical matriarch of the bohemian, (and highly dysfunctional) Bliss family. Written in 1924, Noel Coward's highly farcical Hay Fever is an exuberant delight, charting the ups and downs of a weekend spent in the company of this wonderfully ridiculous and self-absorbed family in typically riotous Coward fashion!

WHAT IS HAY FEVER ABOUT?

Hay Fever is the story of the unconventional Bliss family, father David who is always buried deep in a book, siblings Simon and Sorel who are always happy to play up to their mother, the former star actress Judith. Life carries on as if it were a play, even when, oblivisous to each other, they all invite a guest to stay for the weekend.

When the bewildered party is complete, emotions begin to run high, with seduction and scandal erupting at every turn. Will they survive a whole weekend, or are the Blisses just too much to bear? This hilarious play will tickle Coward fans new and old and deserves a warm welcome back to the West End!
