LONDON'S FAVOURITE RED-HEADED FOUNDLING RETURNS!

After a fantastic premiere last year at the Vaudeville Theatre, Jacqueline Wilson's Hetty Feather returns to the West End this summer in this sparkling stage adaptation set in Victorian England. Penned by Tracy Beaker writer Emma Reeves, this circus-themed adventure is full of splendid action and brilliant dialogue.

Abandoned by her unmarried mother at the austere Foundling Hospital as a newborn, young Hetty Feather must negotiate a tough upbringing with adventure and the heartbreaking sting of broken promises. This tale will captivate children and young teens alike with a plucky heroine that everybody will engage with.

WHAT IS HETTY FEATHER ABOUT?

Life is tough at the strict, cold Foundling Hospital, and throughout her short, hard life, Hetty Feather has known that somewhere, out there, her true family must exist. Fostered until the age of six with her foster siblings, she must return to the grim surroundings of the infamous Hospital, where she was left as a baby, but not before experiencing the delights of a travelling circus, and the tragic consequences of her actions.

Constantly falling foul of the cruel Matron "Stinking" Bottomly, she escapes one night into Victorian London, where adventure, drama and her mysterious circus friends await her. After being rejected by the circus, she once again flees to a bad neighbourhood in London, but is rescued in the nick of time from danger by another girl her age.

A trademark of Wilson novels, Hetty Feather fearlessly tackles themes such as death, broken promises and illegitimacy, but balances them in such a way as to be understood universally, without heavy-handed saccarine.

Once again starring the exceptionally talented Phoebe Thomas as Hetty, and a multi-talented cast (complete with circus skills), this Olivier-nominated play will prove a treat during the summer holidays for young and old alike!
