Plays

The Pulitzer Prize-winning play comes to the Hampstead Theatre

The Pulitzer Prize-winning play by David Lindsay-Abaire comes to Hampstead Theatre, dealing with the trauma of family loss. Directed by Edward Hall (Sunny Afternoon, Chariots Of Fire), follow the journey of married couple Becca and Howie as they each grieve for the loss of their four-year old son Danny in their own ways, that both appear destructive but ultimately in search of redemption. Familial tensions add both poignancy and comedic moments, painting a realistic picture of grief. Cynthia Nixon won the 2006 Tony Award for Best Actress for her role as Becca in the Broadway production.

Adding to the trauma is the introduction to the 17-year old boy responsible for Danny's accidental death as he comes to terms with his actions, and trying to reach out to the parents with very mixed results. Meanwhile, Becca must deal with her pregnant, well-meaning sister and her own jealousy. At once touching and harsh, this study in grief and hope will be sure to touch audience hearts.
