A Profoundly Affectionate, Passionate Devotion to Someone (Noun)

Until April 1, 2017

Modernist playwright debbie tucker green (lower-case preferred!) returns to the Royal Court Theatre with a brand-new play, which she will also direct. A deep introspection into human relationships, "A Profoundly Affectionate.." examines three couples who face a crossroads in each of their relationships as they consider their past, and the possibilities of the path not taken. green's previous works include Born Bad, for which she won the 2004 Olivier Award for Most Promising Newcomer as well as an indie film Second Coming in 2014 starring Idris Elba.

a profoundly affectionate, passionate devotion to someone (-noun)

Until April 1, 2017

British comedian and TV star Meera Syal makes her Royal Court Theatre debut, in this new drama by associate artist debbie tucker green (always lower case!). Following on her 2015 acclaimed work Hang, this new play focuses on three couples, and the passage of time, chance and the path not taken. Co-starring Gary Beadle, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr, Lashana Lynch, Shvorne Marks alongside Syal, green will also direct the play, with design by Merle Hensel. See why green is one of the most promising playwright directors in London, with this searing indictment of romantic relationships.

Manwatching

May 10-20, 2017

Transferring to the Royal Court Theatre for the first time since its premiere in 2015, this daring production explores female heterosexuality in both comic and sometimes explicit detail. Written by an anonymous female playwright, the show begins with a male comedian being handed a script they have never seen before, let alone rehearsed. Reading it out loud in front of a live audience, no blushes are spared as he shares insight into what one woman thinks about when she thinks about sex and men. Other than that, we cannot give out any more clues, as the playwright wants to remain anonymous!

Killology

May 25-June 24, 2017

When does murder become a game? That is the premise of a gripping new play by Gary Owen (Violence and Son) that takes the digital gaming experience to a whole deeper level. When gamers accrue extra points for creatively torturing their victims it becomes the centre of a moral panic. Outside in the real world, half of society fear that the game promotes violence and social decay; on the other hand, the games developer insists that it is an exercise in morality and reaping the consequences of your actions. But who is right? Directed by Rachel O'Riordan and produced in conjunction with the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff.

Bodies

July 5-August 12, 2017

Following her successful Royal Court Theatre productions The Witness and Pests, Vivienne Franzmann returns with a brand-new drama that explores the shady world of human trafficking. Following a suspicious transaction that traverses three countries a mysterious cargo is delivered to London, having been, erm, created in India over a period of nine months and funded by Russia. But what exactly is the product involved? And who is it being delivered to? A searing thoughtpiece into one of earth's cruelest trades.
