"Plenty of reasons to be cheerful..."

A warts-and-all celebration of the crippled genius and purveyor of saucy songs who blasted the phrase "Sex 'n' Drugs 'n' Rock 'n' Roll" into the national psyche.

Publicly, Ian Dury was a diamond geezer and cheeky chappie but privately he was a troubled maestro afflicted with polio. Starting at the height of his career in 1980, HIT ME! reveals the true story behind the poet laureate of punk who penned and performed some of the greatest hits of that era.

Down-to-earth humour pervades the show as told through the relationship with his minder, loyal friend, and ex-con Fred 'Spider' Rowe. Featuring eight of his most famous hits including Reasons to be Cheerful, Clever Bastards, and Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick.
