The Majority

Until October 1, 2017

Part of the National Theatre's drive in 2017/18 to feature equality in voices on stage, Rob Drummond returns to the stage with a brand-new show that explores democracy in a one-man format. Famed for his infamous show Bullet Catch, in which he displayed the most deadly "magic trick" in stage history on a nightly basis, Drummond's new target, forgive the pun, is in fact about politics within democratic society. It may not contain the danger of a bullet catch, but Drummond assures us that it will be thrilling and thoughtworthy!

Beginning

Opens October 4, 2017

A world premiere romantic comedy floats into the Dorfman Theatre at the National this October! Directed by Polly Findley, this new work by playwright David Eldridge is the latest in a long line of successful plays, including those made for both the Almeida and Royal Court Theatres. Set in the early hours following a riotous north London party, a meeting between two strangers is set to change both of their lives forever. Eldridge 's previous works include 's 2012 In Basildon, starring Linda Bassett and Ruth Sheen. Also writing for television, his last project was the TV movie The Scandalous Lady W, starring Natalie Dormer.

John

Opens January 10, 2018

Making its UK premiere this year, Annie Baker's hit New York play John follows on from her successful Pulitzer Prize-winning staging of The Flick. An examination into human relationships, Baker's latest work premiered at the Signature Theatre in New York in 2015; John is set in a Gettysburg Bed & Breakfast, and explores the dynamic between the establishment's cheerful owner and two of its guests, a troubled young couple struggling to stay together. Clocking in at over three hours, this epic play allows its characters to develop fully and naturally over time.
