Why See A Pacifist's Guide To The War On Cancer?

Musicals

A musical comedy about cancer? You bet

With the National Health Service having made the news almost every week this year, it is perhaps fitting that this dark musical comedy by Bryony Kimmings makes its world premiere at The National Theatre this autumn. Exploring the lives of six very different cancer sufferers, A Pacifist's Guide promises to take us behind the drab headlines to a personal exploration of the disease that involves bright characters, rousing life anthems, and of course, plenty of wigs.

This new work by musical playwright and social commentator Bryony Kimmings follows up her recent success with Fake It To Make It, a similarly dark exploration, this time into male depression. Her 2013 work Credible Likeable Superstar Role Model is an equally unsettling work that tackles the world's sexualisation of children. A Pacifist's Guide will premiere first in Manchester before transferring to the Dorfman Theatre.
