The Silver Tassie Reviews
Janet from Woking, England
DISAPPOINTING
It was "OK" but I think the tickets were unjustifiably expensive at over £100 each. I had expected something spectacular. I liked the colourful costumes and the dancers were good but the show was unfortunately rather tedious and repetitive. I disliked the somewhat condescending introductions to each dance from the two comperes. It came across as if intended for children. There was not much variation in the choreography - I couldn't tell much difference between the "Chinese classical dance", the "folk dance" and the "ethnic dance." As for the two solo tenors (honestly, I wanted to cover my ears during one of them!). I think the show would have been better without them. The pianist was good though. There was a rather strange, religious message in the two songs - and in general there was a pervasive religious theme to many of the dance performances. I felt I was being preached to. The dancers were very good, but the show as a whole was a bit of a disappointment.

DISAPPOINTING
At a cost of £250 for two matinee tickets we expected much more. The performers were certainly very highly trained and impressive but each scene was most repetitive until it became boring. For this kind of money plus the hype of advertising we expected scene props to match but there were virtually none. As other reviews have stated....part of a number of scenes is where dancers go over a wall to fly through the sky using computer produced graphics. I have to say very amateurish and I agree with other critics that overall the performance could have been from a Sixth Form production and in my opinion not in keeping with a high cost International production. I am sure that one of the tests of appreciation is applause at the end and subsequent encores....the audience applauded politely but the applause quickly finished. There were two soloist singers who sang one song each....very average indeed. Overall unimpressive too repetitive stagecraft/props scarce very bland.
