The whole thing is such a pleasure and an 'alf you simply don't want it to end.
The Telegraph
Fresh from becoming the fastest selling show in the Chichester Festival Theatre's history, this brand new adaptation of the classic musical is heading to London this Winter. Featuring an entirely re-written book from Julian Fellowes and music from Stiles and Drewe, this charming production won raves for its dazzling choreography, exuberant score and thoroughly engaging leading man (newcomer Charlie Stemp). So prepare to follow the fortunes of Arthur Kipps once more and don't worry, he's still got his banjo!
Based on the autobiographical novel by HG Wells recalling his early days as an overworked apprentice to a draper in Southsea at the turn of the 19th century, Half a Sixpence moves the action to Folkstone where the genial Arthur Kipps dreams of a more satisfying life.
A lifelong orphan, Kipps is more than surprised when he suddenly inherits a massive fortune, changing his life in an instant. No longer sure of his life or his choices, Kipps breaks into high society in search of a place to belong, finding himself torn between the advice of lifelong friend and childhood sweetheart Ann, and the advances of the classy society girl Helen Walsingham. Which will he choose? And does life come down to just making the 'right' choices.
Fans of the 1963 musical will love this new iteration, which retains many of David Heneker and Beverly Cross' unforgettable songs, and audiences are sure to be swept away by this good old-fashioned seaside love story!

Fabulous ESCAPIST fun
Charlie Stemp is an athletic lead, whose charisma is magnetic as he takes 'Artie' from poor shop boy to flashy gentleman with an identity crisis.
Charlie Stemp's dazzling performance drives this invigorating rework of the classic Tommy Steele vehicle to new heights. They really don't make 'em like this anymore, pure bliss of a musical, two hours of escapism, joy, dancing and of course, banjos.
