GREAT PLAY, GREAT ACTING

I had the pleasure of seeing this twice while on vacation in. London in June, was glad that I did. The entire cast was EXCELLENT. It's what acting is all about. If you want to see what acting IS all about, just go to London. The British have got it down. I was lucky enough to see Daniel Radcliffe in NY when he was both in Equus, and How to Succeed in Business. In my opinion, he is the next great British talent that will continue to grow. Mr. Radcliffe is BRILLANT in this show. Don't miss it if you can go!

AN UNEXPECTED TREAT

This production was excellent, and the performance I saw flawless. The set design was excellent with strong and moody lighting really setting the scene. But it was the performances of the cast that were so brilliant, with not a weak link to be seen. Daniel Radcliffe deserves every bit of praise for his performance of the central character Crippled Billy, with just the right balance of strength, pride and pathos. You can see Radcliffe working to shake of his Potter persona and this play will most definitely make people see him in a different light. All the cast were excellent but special praise is due to Sarah Greene, who plyed the main love interest Helen a feisty, strong-spirited woman who could be both tormentor and sweetheart. This season of 6 plays has been excellent throughout, but for my money "Cripple of Inishmaan" has been the jewel in the crown.

FAIRLY GOOD

If you are attending the play for the main purpose of seeing daniel radcliffe act you will be pleasantly surprised, the play is quite funny and touching. However, the story line and plot seemed to jump a bit which was my only slight letdown. There is some adult language.

OUTSTANDING SCRIPT/STORY AND ENSEMBLE

Saw the play in August. Both my husband and myself felt that the story and script were excellent: powerful, poignant and thoughtful. The skill of the ensemble was in general, a tour de force with the exception of its "star" Daniel Radcliffe. We both felt that although he was acting his heart out (...and it was evident he was "ACTING"), his performance was the weakest link of the ensemble. His over-the-top performance however, is no reason to miss the opportunity to see this exceptional play and superb performances by the cast, in general.

PLAY OR FILM

This is a great play by a great playwright. The direction, sets, lighting and music were excellent. All the actors were very fine, BUT I had the feeling I was watching two different productions, one enacted for the stage by everyone EXCEPT Mr. Radcliffe, and the film version in which he seemed to be appearing. There is absolutely nothing wrong with playing a character small, unless all about you are playing large.

GOOD BUT FORGETTABLE

I did enjoy it, the story is touching at points. However, no one really stood out and it didn't blow me away - could be forgettable.
