Into The Hoods

An underlying social commentary that aims to high-kick the stereotypes of hip-hop and hoodie culture ? and that is where this production's success truly lies.

Why see Into The Hoods?
Stephen Sondheim's classic musical incorporating Grimm's fairytale figures gets a gritty, urban makeover by London-based hip hop dance troupe ZooNation. This energetic show puts a humourous and modern spin on Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's darkly humorous musical and sets it to a soundtrack of music by artists Gorillaz, Basement Jaxx, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Black Eyes Peas and The Chemical Brothers.
A must for music and dance fans! The show starred Britain?s Got Talent winner George Sampson for a limited time as one of the two lead children on a mission on the 'hood.
WHAT IS THE SHOW ABOUT?
We follow two children who are lost in a dodgy estate where a wicked landlord befriends them after they have played truant from school. They are offered a room in his tenement block on the condition they work for him. The reluctant children embark on their mission, which is to retrieve a set of of highly prized items that include gold Adidas trainers, a bright red hoodie, the finest quality long weave in the city and a white iPod.
Their quest leads them to the flats occupied by Spinderella where they meet the eccentric characters who possess the items; Lil Red, Rap-on-Zel and Jaxx. Each character has a story of their own to tell, which they perform through hip hop dancing.
