The ultimate rom-com returns

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a novelist in possession of a large legacy must be in want of myriad adaptations of her magnum opus. And so it is that Jane Austen's most treasured work returns to the Regent's Park Open Air theatre after a hugely popular run in 2013.

The story of the Bennet family, being of five daughters of marriageable age, Jane, Lizzy, Lydia, Kitty and Mary, the amiable Mr Bennet and his beleaguered wife Mrs Bennet, Pride and Prejudice represents the best of Austen's oeuvre, from the sweet, burgeoning romance to the acerbic social commentary, it is regarded as the ultimate tale of love and family.

As the girls long for amusement, the whole family's lives are thrown into chaos with the arrival of some bonafide suitors in the neighbourhood. The good-natured Mr Bingley dives into the Merton life with aplomb, catching the eye of Jane, the eldest (and the prettiest) whilst his friend, the pompous Mr Darcy finds his head turned, much to his chagrin, by Lizzy, the story's independently minded heroine. Whilst they fall into a tumultuous routine, the rest of the family attempt to rally and behave appropriately, which proves much easier for some than others!

Again directed by Deborah Brunce, this adaptation from Simon Reade captures all the mischief, wonder, angst and comedy of the novel, bringing to life some of history's most treasured characters for a public happy to receive them once more!
