It's an intriguing story, with the depth of flamenco's roots in India brought startlingly to the fore before it turns into the hand-clapping, foot-rapping strut of Andalucia.

When hear the word "flamenco", we automatically think of those elegant Spanish crowned dancers, and the strumming guitars throughout the streets of Seville. But what if you learned that the art form actually originated in India? Zik'r is a brand-new dance show created by Killing Joke bassist, Youth, that traces the evolution and journey of flamenco from India, brought West along the Silk Road by gypsies to Spain, to the phenomenon that we know and love today!
Starring Casablanca-born performer Karen Ruimy with a cast of 13 dancers and live musicians, we get to enjoy the original music that combines key elements of Indian, Moroccan and flamenco to illustrate the historical and symbiotic roots of the form between its Eastern origins and Western influences via the Middle East. It's a side of flamenco that you never thought you'd see!
