A striking, original satire.
Evening Standard review, Blacta, 2015
A heartbreaking tale of a broken family forms the basis of this new work by up and coming playwright Nathaniel Martello-White. After suffering being split from her siblings when her parents part ways, the youngest child Angel calls an urgent family summit to find the truth about why they failed her so much. Dark family secrets harboured for generations are about to get their first airing. And she's not about to let anybody leave until she gets the answers that she deserves.
Torn is the second work by actor-turned playwright Martello-White following his critically acclaimed debut Blackta at the Young Vic, a biting satire of the struggles minority actors face when competing against each other for the same role, in a world where white actors outnumber everybody else.
