Holten directs meticulously: the staging has been rehearsed with exceptional thoughtfulness and attention to detail. The pace is sure, and characterisations and relationships are sharply but subtly drawn.

The thrilling tale of the womanising anti-hero returns to the Royal Opera House stage in the form of Danish opera director Kasper Holten's Victorian era-set production, last staged in 2014.
Based on the legend of Don Juan, Don Giovanni is the perfect display of Motzart's skill in combining irresistible drama with a breathtaking score that is both moving and comedic. With little care for those he leaves in his wake, Don Giovanni litters the streets with broken hearts... Yet when those he has wronged rise up for revenge, the unrepentant wastrel faces one of the most dramatic demises in the history of opera.
