A sweet and charming new musical will be taking over the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse in London this winter, as an adaptation of French-Belgian film Les Emotifs Anonymes makes its London premiere. Adapted by Emma Rice, lyrics and music have been crafted by Christopher Dimond and Michael Kooman respectively.
Set within the artisanal world of confectionary, the story follows two souls cursed with social anxiety. Angelique; a timid yet creative young woman makes beautiful chocolates that seemingly provides her with all the emotion she is afraid to accept in real life. Meanwhile Jean-Rene runs an old-fashioned chocolate factory that faces closure; rather like his own emotions. Determined to seek help for their crippling anxieties, they approach it in different ways - yet somehow their paths cross in the most unusual way!
