MUST SEE

This is the best thing i've seen for a long time! Great songs and great cast. Joanna Riding and Michael Xavier were superb but the ensemble were top class! My only disappointment was that theatre was not a sell-out!

FANTASTIC UNDERSTUDY

Loved this production so much was seeing it for the 2nd time, taking my mother. Full of vitality and commitment from the cast, with great choreography. We went to see a matinee and was concerned that an understudy was playing the lead part of Sid. However not only could he sing and act brilliantly, he could also dance the part, which made the experience even better! Go see!

THE PAJAMA GAME IS A REVELATION!

I saw this show on the Saturday matinee after the First Night Party. Was the show slow and tired and lacking in energy? Don't you believe it! It was terrific. Such a good show, such great songs and singing, such energetic and imaginative dancing. It's a continual delight. There was a smile on my face and tears in my eyes throughout the performance. Everyone in the cast are wonderful and you really care about the conflicts of the boy and girl. It's an indication of Joanna Riding's acting talent that her face actually seems different from her first entrance to the woman in love that she becomes. It is Richard Eyre's most impressive musical production since Guys and Dolls.

A BLAST FROM THE PAST

I saw the original so maybe I'm a bit biased! The cast gave it everything they'd got, which was considerable, (although for me Michael Xavier did not stand comparison with Edmund Hockridge, but that may be generational). The dancing was terrific, and the comic timing perfect. It just all seemed a bit out-dated. "7 1/2 cents" is not really relevant in to-day's world, and the cast is not really sufficient to carry off the big production numbers. Having said that, the youngsters sitting next to me were in fits of laughter, so maybe I'm wrong. I wish it well.
