On the centenary of WWI, a new play from Shakespeare's Globe & Howard Breton
This Autumn, the Globe presents Doctor Scroggy's War by Howard Brenton as part of a season marking the centenary of the outbreak of World War One.
Based on the real story of 'the father of modern plastic surgery', Sir Harold Gillies, Doctor Scroggy is an enigmatic army medic, passing out champagne to his patients as he takes his rounds. To the 19 year old Jack Twigg, who joins up for the adventure, he becomes a confidant, saving more than just his life on this epic journey to Flanders and back again.
Doctor Scroggy promises to show a different look at The Great War and the chaotic effects it has on just one group of people.
