A treasure ... handled with something close to brilliance ...
The Times
When musicals meet the theory of relativity, you're in for one very explosive (sorry) mix, from 2013's Edinburgh Fringe. If you've ever wondered what E =MC2 means, it's time that you come on down to the Southwark Playhouse and see Albert in person, the genial genius with the coolest 'tache in science. This musical comedy lecture is like no other, and features his two wives and mum on the piano, a guest star rapper (MC Squared, no less), plus peer-reviewed explanations of his landmark scientific theories and possibly the wurst sausage joke ever!
The central premise takes the form of Einstein's inaugural lecture at Princeton University back in 1933. The professor however, is not particularly good at sticking to his lecture notes, and gets distracted recounting whimsical anecdotes, using outlandish analogies to explain special and general relativity and breaking into rap. He may even call on his audience, ahem, students to come up on stage to help him demonstrate his theories!
John Hinton's newest creation follows on the heels of his Darwin-based show, The Origin of Species, and he reckons that even the completely uninitiated will come out of the show fully keyed up on the Theory of Relativity!
