With new tunes by Hamilton's Lin Manuel Miranda !
First staged on Broadway in 1978 and starring Patti LuPone and Rex Everhart, Stephen Schwartz and Nina Faso's genre-defining musical is finally making its way to London, nearly 40 years later. Based on the best-selling book by Studs Terkel, "Studs Terkel’Working: People Talk About What They Do All Day and How They Feel About What They Do", the story and music are adapted by the interviews with the workforce that people generally take for granted in society; housewives, teachers and firemen. This new revision also contains recent numbers written by Hamilton creator Lin Manuel Miranda!
A celebration of the normal working Joe (not to mention, Jo!)we explore the lives, the daily grind and dreams of an everyday working nation through dance and a range of differing musical genres to represent the diversity of people featured. This new revival at the Southwark Playhouse in summer 2017 will be directed by Luke Sheppard and choreographed by Fabian Aloise.
