Following the sell-out success of ENO classic The Magic Flute this new production features spectacular filmed backdrops that blend seamlessly with the on-stage action, along with lavish period sets and 18th-Century costumes. These are accompanied by a strong principal cast, and the enchanting and ever-popular score, to create the perfect Mozart experience.
The production originally premiered at the prestigious Aix-en-Provence festival in 2008 and now makes its much anticipated British debut at the London Coliseum.
Susan Gritton, Fiona Murphy, Thomas Glenn and Liam Bonner play the young lovers caught up in romantic intrigue and double-dealing. Steven Page is the cynical and scheming Don Alfonso, Sophie Bevan the capricious, opportunistic maid Despina. Mozart specialist Stefan Klingele makes his ENO conducting debut.
