When ballet and jazz combine, it's a golden combination!
Fans of the Jazz Age and Gershwin rejoice, as St Petersberg's Eifman Ballet returns to the Royal Opera House with this ballet adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novella Tender Is The Night. Portraying a raw journey of emotion and sensuality between an aspiring young psycho-analyst and his female patient, Up and Down follows literally the rise and fall of his career, whilst allowing the characters to express their state of mind through movement.
Eifman Ballet celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2017, after forming as one of the world's largest non-classical ballet companies, and is particularly famous for its intelligent takes on otherwise classical works such as Anna Karenina, Eugene Onegin, Rodin and Red Giselle, and its left-field direction to its repertory.
