The Guardian
Transferring from Theatre305, Land of our Fathers is the first full length play from Chris Urch. It was met with critical acclaim on its premiere and was nominated for five Off West End Awards in 2013, including Best Play. The play follows the fate of six Welsh coalminers, who are trapped underground in 1979 when their pit collapses. Huddled together in the dark, they pass the time away discussing everything from Margaret thatcher to The Sex Pistols, but their jovial banter isn't enough to distract from the knowledge that every second that passes may be their last.
Directed by Paul Robinson, the cast of this equally funny and claustrophobic play includes Clive Merrison (The History Boys) and Paul Brennan (The Tudors).
Opening night: 2 September 2014
