A ground-breaking new collaboration with between dramatists and scientists
Science meets performance art in this provocative new series of plays at the Trafalgar Studios in September. A darkly comic and at times heartbreaking response to the global food crisis, this is the brainchild between six leading dramatists and six world-renowned scientists who specialise in food poverty. The four stories each focus on an individual with different relationships to the crisis to comic, yet devastating effect.
The story follows the personal experiences of four very different people, who all encounter the global food crisis in different ways. From locating a missing friend in Nigeria, through sacrificing life and limb just to get a clean glass of water, to just wanting to enjoy a guilt-free moment eating a chocolate bar, and an apocalyptic worst case scenario where one of our food staples is worth more than gold, this stirring play is set to make waves at the Trafalgar. Mouthful is the main project forming the heart of Metta Theatre's 10th anniversary, and a watershed moment in collaborating between art and science.
