Why See The Homecoming?

Plays

50th anniversary production!

Jamie Lloyd resurrects Harold Pinter's award winning sexually charged play for his second Trafalgar Transformed season this November! Starring Gemma Chan, John Simm, Keith Allen and Gary Kemp, The Homecoming is the story of married couple Teddy and Ruth, who return to Teddy's north London family, after several years in America and the repercussions their visit has on his female-less father and brothers.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, The Homecoming is known as one of Pinter's seminal plays as the central relationship of Teddy and Ruth breaks down amid Ruth discovering her own destiny in this sensual exploration of female influence, and absence. The brothers begin a resentful game of oneupmanship in the face of Ruth's presence, leading to a finale that makes the audience wonder just who was the one finding home.

Trafalgar Transformed has been Jamie Lloyd's mission for the last few years, bringing exciting, fresh, accessible and interesting shows to the West End at affordable prices. Recent productions have included The Ruling Class with James McAvoy and Richard III with Martin Freeman.

What we thought

MENACING pinter Perfection

But within the theatre, with these actors, it's a hard slap in the face, played to perfection,

The erudite Jamie Lloyd's resurrection of Harold Pinter's 'finest' play fills the Trafalgar Studios with a thick malaise of malice and sexual tension, making you utterly uncomfortable, but unable to look away.
