Waitress Teams Up With The Theatre Cafe For National Pie Day

Cakes, pies and all things nice at Waitress!

Happy National Pie Day one and all! In honour of this sweet day, the London production of Waitress has announced that they will be teaming up with the Theatre Cafe to bring audience members fresh and delicious cakes at the Adelphi Theatre!

Heralded as the first theatre-themed coffee shop in London, the Theatre Cafe will provide and sell apple crumble, chocolate salted caramel or banoffee pies in special Waitress themes jars when the show begins previews on 8 February. Sara Bareilles' musical began the tradition with their Broadway run, where their sweet treats were provided by Cute as Cake in New York.

Rehearsals for the production are now underway for the musical's West End debut, with the original Broadway run celebrating its third birthday this year. Jenna McPhee leads the cast as Jenna with Marisha Wallace as Becky, Laura Baldwin as Dawn, Peter Hannah as Earl, David Hunter as Dr Pomatter, Jack McBrayer as Ogie and Shaun Prendergast as Old Joe.

What is Waitress about?

Suffocated by both the small Southern town where she lives, and her controlling husband Earl, Jenna longs for escape. Her only solace comes from working in the local diner, where she can practise her passion for baking. Jenna's crumbly pastries and crinkly crusts are renowned the town over, and by a stroke of luck, they might just offer her an escape route! A pie-making contest is announced in a nearby town, with a potentially life-changing cash prize for first place. Jenna realises this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity and is determined to grab it with both hands!
