trapped between two worlds the theatre and the door
WHY ? are there no truthful reviews of this play ? There appears to be a big 'love in' conspiracy , duping the unsuspecting public of parting with their hard earned cash for an evening of uninspiring , formulaic , patronising , theatre. The direction is truly awful , the actors are left to there own devises , fortunately for Ruth Wilson her emotional transparency allows her to be engaging and truthful despite not giving herself anywhere to go so its all a little one note performance. The actor playing her father might as well have been on stage alone as he didn't talk to anyone else on stage and instead bored us all senseless with his vanity and posturing . The actor playing her husband didn't seem to believe a word he said and struggled against the poor translation which was overwritten and turgid . Maddness indeed, maddening at £32 a ticket !
