Why see A Christmas Carol?

A CHRISTMAS CAROL is one of the most daring and beloved books Charles Dickens ever wrote. It has become a classic Christmas tale for generations of children and adults alike.

As the Ghosts spirit Scrooge from his past to his present to his future, Dickens takes us on a magical journey from the miser's dank and creaking house to joyful festivities, and from snowy graveyards to cosy hearths. All the time the author's voice - tender, savage and magisterial - is present. This treasured story still offers a celebration of goodness, a plea for justice and the promise of redemption.

After a sold-out season last Christmas, this critically acclaimed production returns to the Arts Theatre. Based on Dickens' own performing adaptation, Simon Callow and director Tom Cairns have created a one man theatrical extravaganza of total story-telling that is both hilarious and heart-breaking.
