Venezuela Viva

Venezuela VIVA - the Dance Fusion Spectacular takes over the London Palladium on Monday 10th October 2011.
Why see Venezuela Viva?
Flamenco, an art that comes from the Romani people in Spain, draws on the dances and sounds of South Asia, the Middle East, Egypt and Andalusia. In the wake of Columbus, the chroniclers register its presence from Mexico to Chile.
In Venezuela, on the north coast of South America, this legacy of exhilarating song and dance was transformed by the indigenous peoples, by Africans who had been brought to work there, and by other artists who encountered it over the centuries.
A company of twenty-five dancers and ten musicians stage this melding of cultures which encompasses flamenco, Middle Eastern belly dancing, African percussion, Venezuelan joropo, Caribbean calypso and modern salsa.
