HOW COULD THIS EVER HAVE WORKED WITH A MAN?
In a preview audience packed with Sondheim fans, this was a knock- out evening. Rosalie Craig gives Bobbi such a fresh, moving and witty interpretation that it’s difficult to visualise the part could ever be performed by a man. As for the rest - well, Patti Lupone is a bitter, superlative Joanne, and Amy becomes Jamie in one of the many show- stopping numbers. It’s the funniest production I have seen as well as the most poignant with its moments of utter emptiness. Well done Marianne Elliott for your audacity in reimagining this classic. I loved it so much I have already booked to see it again.

SUPERLATIVE CAST, MUSIC AND STAGING
So yes, I’m a Sondheim fan. I’ve seen an amateur performance of Company and I play the music a lot. But this updated version with its female Bobbie takes the musical to a whole new level. When I first saw Company I was single and was struck most by its wisdom about being single: now I’m married, and it rings so true about this too! The staging is brilliant and innovative - no spoilers - but never takes away from the lyrics and score. We sat in the centre stalls and felt immersed in it all.

profound Refreshing BRILLIANT
It's profoundly refreshing to see Company not just as the famous score and witty one liners, but for it to place itself slap bang in the middle of 2018's debate, whilst still excelling at all the elements one needs for a truly brilliant musical.
In a production that could be dubbed an 'Instagrammer's dream' Company explodes back onto the stage! This time though it's a magical gender-swapped revamp of the classic Sondheim musical.
