Plays

Fastest Finger First

Based on the 2001 'coughing Major' scandal that erupted around Charles Ingram's infamous 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' win in 2001, James Graham's (Ink, This House) new play is at once an examination of our national obsession with gameshows and a darkly comic treatise on the 21 Century's alarming relationship with the truth. After a West End run and a spectacular TV adaptation with Matthew McFayden, Martin Sheen, and Sian Clifford, this hilarious play takes to the road on a much anticipated national tour this year with Rory Bremner as Chris Tarrant!

The Coughing Major

Allegedly using a scheme made up of complicated series of coughs and splutters provided by his wife, Ingram managed to make his way to a Million, before the couple's behavior provoked the suspicions of producers and host Chris Tarrant. A trial soon followed, catapulting the Ingrams to infamy. Quiz is a fictional imagination of what happened after the episode was broadcast in 2001.
