Why See Les Ballets Trockadero De Monte Carlo - Programme B?
In the second of their two programmes, The Trocks continue their hilarious hi-jinks with three more of their unique interpretations of ballet masterpieces. The Trocks have travelled all over the world, delivering a combination of knowledge of classical ballet with a wicked sense of humour to ever more delighted audiences. Expect to see interpretations of Forkine's Les Sylphides, Bournonville Napoli and the wedding scenes from Petipa's Raymonda.
The Trocks display an extraordinary ability to hurtle through the classical ballet repertoire, whilst displaying an inimitable blend of skill, grace and a wit as sharp as a knife en pointe. What makes this different from other spoof troupes is that the dancers portray both male and female roles in a humorous style that combines ballet parody, posing and physical comedy with "straighter" pieces that aim to showcase the performers' innate technical skills, which include dancing en pointe.
Once you get over the shock of seeing athletically built men in tutus, you will be astounded by the level of skill on display. From hardcore ballet fans to newcomers, the Trocks are ones to watch!
