A POWERHOUSE PERFORMANCE

Imelda Staunton is simply unstoppable as Mama Rose. The supporting cast are bright and energetic but the star brings the house down. A must see for all theatre fans.

GYPSY-TASTIC - THE BEST SHOW IN LONDON BY FAR

We went to a preview & so glad we did as I think getting hold of tickets for this knock out show is going to prove to be very difficult once people wise up & read these reviews. OMG - I don't think I've been to a better West End production in many a year. The sets are fabulous, costumes were perfect, the Orchestra were simply amazing & the cast - headed by Imelda Staunton - was out of this world. I cried, cheered & tapped my feet to the oh so familiar tunes but the way they were presented was above & beyond what I expected. (I'm running out of superlatives). From start to finish I witnessed show-stopper after show-stopper. Choreography was wonderful and lighting amazing. The star of the show was of course Imelda Staunton - every song hit the right note & her final number moved the rafters on the roof. Imelda - I take my hat, coat & whatever else you want off in admiration for you. If you have to Steele an ushers uniform to see this show - DO !!!

3 HOURS OF MY LIFE...

3 hours of my life I will never get back. This is quite possibly the worst thing I've ever seen at the theatre. If we weren't with my husband's parents we'd have left at the interval. It is just so dated. The irony is that the audience has to repeatedly suffer the terrible act that the story revolves around . It's mildly amusing the first time around but the annoying, shrill voices are like someone running their nails down a blackboard. Given the amazing reviews, we couldn't have been more disappointed. Even the staging was poor. As dated as the show itself. I appreciate this show is typical of its era, but we've moved on and this show needs to be consigned to the archives. You can put the best cast in the world on the stage, but if the material is this bad there's only so much they can do. Why others in the audience gave it a standing ovation baffles me. Some people are very easily pleased!
