PRETTY WOMAN LONDON

I always loved this film. Seeing the show last night 14/2/2020 was so amazing. The performers 5⭐️ The scenery changes 5⭐️ The music 5⭐️ Only thing I would comment on was the woman who play Vivian couple of the dresses she wore was not amazing. Several commented on this on way out. The dress when met in the bar and the famous brown and white spot. But if the only bad thing was couple dresses. Easily sorted. Recommend that’s done. As wasn’t only me. But I have seen most shows in London never given a review. Amazing well done and thank you for the rose a nice touch on Valentine’s Day. Hope to come again sometime ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

PRETTY DAM GOOD!

I thought that it might all be a bit too cheesy or a poor imitation of the film, but 'blow me', it was so dam good. You will not be disappointed!

GO SEE IT

Wonderful! Wonderful cast! Wonderful show! Sure the critics will find fault as they always do! At the end of the day this show will make you leave the theatre with a smile on your face! That’s what it’s all about!

ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!!!

I couldn’t recommend this show enough, I couldn’t stop smiling all the way through. The actress who played Julia Roberts was infectious. I’ve watched loads of West end and Broadway shows and this has to be one of my new favourites.

5.0 star rating Martin from London, England

LOVED IT!!!!!

Entertaining from start to finish. Loved the storytelling very cleverly done. Whole audience on their feet at the end. Brilliant. Thougjt Danny Mac was exceptionally well cast, only negative comment would be Vivienne's dresses, slightly underwelming.

PRETTY WOMAN

5* performance. My wife and I along with my son and his partner went to see the show on 31st July, An outstanding performance by all the cast ( especially from bob harms )

POSSIBLY BEST MUSICAL EVER!

We saw this on 31st July after having our original tickets cancelled due to the pandemic. I honestly can't think of a musical I have enjoyed more. It was funny and heart warming from the very start. I have only just seen the reviews and can't believe so many people have slated this show, I can only assume that these are reviews from pre-pandemic and maybe something has now changed. The actors, costumes, sets and music were all superb (not sure why people are upset that one dress was a different colour than on the film!) Some people seem not to have realised that the original Pretty Woman was a film not a musical therefore the songs were written for the show. All in all I think it was a fabulous show, and I think everyone else in the theatre did too judging by the standing ovation and raucous applause. My recommendation is go see it, you won't regret it.

CAPTURES THE ESSENCE OF THE CLASSIC MOVIE

Having read some of the one-star reviews, I can’t help but wonder of the ‘woke’ brigade has gotten their claws into this show for some reason. Personally, I thought it was fabulous, and very true to the spirit and characters of the Julia Roberts/Richard Gere film. I was particularly impressed with the chemistry between Danny Mac and Aimee Atkinson, who were terrific. In terms of staging, dance choreography, and overall production value, this show very much delivers on the expectation of a ‘big’ musical experience, artfully (and heartfully) told. The only slight disappointment for me was that the score did not have quite as many memorable songs. I would very cheerfully watch this again.

WHAT A NIGHT!

If you go into this expecting a remake of the film as a jukebox musical, you will be disappointed at best and won’t appreciate what an actual gem this musical is. Knowing it was an original soundtrack made going in to this exciting as I didn’t know any of the songs and they weren’t overplayed. Translating the story for this into a W.E. Show was hard, but it does ask you to use your imagination a little, which is fine by me! The most memorable bit for me was Mr. Thompson's tango and the opera scene. All the cast are outstanding and the sets are imaginative without being OTT. You can definitely tell the music was written by Bryan Adams, but it suits the period of the show. Bob Harms is the stand out cast member for me, and his Happy Man really does want you to live your dreams! Amy and Danny have amazing chemistry and Rachel Wooding’s voice is phenomenal! Again, if you want nostalgia, this musical isn’t for you. If you want a fresh take, GO SEE IT!

PRETTY FAB

Paige the understudy playing lead role as miss Vivian was incredible And 10/10 for everyone else hard work performing 6 days a week you are all brilliant x no I would not take my children but Iv taken plenty of family there to watch my only criticism is the audience drinking the more they drink the louder they get Paige you were Fantastic

AMAZING ORIGINAL MUSICAL, NOT THE FILM

Absolutely superb show. If you’re expecting the film, it’s not it, but if you are an ACTUAL musical theatre lover, you will fully appreciate it. Original songs by Bryan Adams are good. Aimee Atkinson has such a lovely tone to her voice and Danny Mac was surprisingly a triple-threat! Lady who played Kit has a PHENOMENAL voice and hotel Manager, Bob Harms COMPLETELY steals the show (honestly never seen someone so funny!)! Give that man an Olivier award!! Don’t go if you want to see the iconic dresses, HAVE AN IMAGINATION and go for the original music. Overall a top night out and I’d go again for sure!

THE CONCIERGE STEALS THE SHOW

Absolutely loved it! Watched it on 22 April 2022 and for me the concierge, Giulio, steals the show. Very entertaining, wasn't sure what to expect but really enjoyed every minute of it!

PRETTY WOMAN SAVOY THEATRE AMAZING

Went to see Pretty Woman last night 31 Aug 2022 and was blown away, it was outstanding and one of the best shows I have seen for a while. Danny Mac is gorgeous and so plays the part of Richard Gere so brilliantly; he has the same style and I knew he could act and dance, but wow he can sing and play the piano too. Jemma Alexander who plays Vivien is top quality, her voice is outstanding and acting so like Julia Roberts. Then Andy Barke is just too funny and plays a number of parts exceptionally well, great voice and so much energy. Alex Charles Bellboy great character and so much fun and again energy. All the cast are just 5 star quality. The musical is so close to the film and I did not want it to end - I would definitely go back and see this again. The Savoy theatre as well great venue, friendly welcoming and professional staff, plus not too big so all seats are good.

TOP QUALITY, GREAT VOICES, FEEL GOOD.............. GO SEE IT !

Excellent all round cast performance. The main cast hit all the notes and the story was true to the ethos of the film story Best voices were in the operatic section which was mesmerising and brought a real feel of emotion

18/01/2023 WOW, AN EXCELLENT SHOW FROM BEGINNING TO END.

I can’t recommend this show enough… Great chemistry between the actors/actresses Vivienne and Edward were perfect together, you could feel the connection between them, a true love story. The concierge was also brilliant, he made the show, I laughed out loud at some of his antics, what a great dancer too!!!, He was so believable in his many roles. The rest of the cast were excellent, true smiles on all of their faces, it looked like they were really enjoying it too, this passed onto the audience. Every scene from the film is played out in the show, I couldn’t think of any they had missed. The set changes were smooth, the lighting creating moods and the sound was clear, what voices the actors/actresses had, I could feel it my chest on the back row!!. I loved the scene when Vivienne and Edward were sitting in the theatre box watching the opera, truly magical. I must admit I had a few tears in my eyes, it pulls at your heart strings… even though I’ve seen the film many times… A real feel good show, don’t miss it!!!!

FANTASTIC, A MUST SEE !

Saw Pretty woman at the savoy theatre this afternoon, my daughter and I. I don’t often write reviews but I can honestly say from start to finish it kept me enthralled and buzzing. It was the plot we all know, it was so well put together, it was sexy, funny, beautiful moments, vocals were outstanding by all and dance and costumes were mesmerising… Just loved it. We sat in the dress circle G 6&7 fantastic view and leg room. Have seen quite a few shows and this is up there as now a huge favourite Would definitely recommend

GOOD FUN , LIVELY

It delivers a fast moving happy and great choreography musical . The real highlight is la traviata in the opera sequence . What a joy .

DISAPPOINTED

We watched the show. Loved Kit, Funny man was brilliant, the young pregnant girl was superb. We enjoyed Danny Mac, but unfortunately they used one of the understudies for the female lead, Olivia Brookes. It was a shame, as her acting was fairly wooden, and her singing was more screeching. I guess she was nervous, but we paid a lot for our tickets, and they didn’t even announce that it was an understudy. It was a disappointing Thursday afternoon, 28th October.

4.0 star rating LL from Cheshunt, England

OVERALL A GOOD ADAPTION OF THE FILM

But Vivian's dresses didn't have the 'Wow' factor and 3 very 'Key' phrases were missing/ changed. 1- Leaving the Opera comment about Peeing her pants/Pirates of Penzance. 2-It was Edward who asked everyone to leave the meeting not Morse! 3-Re the black eye (which was actually left out - said she hadn't been hurt!) hence the missed phrase about being taught how to hit a girl. Other than this it was a very enjoyable night!

4.0 star rating Mark A Abbott from London, England

WASN'T WHAT I EXPECTED

Took my Mother as a treat. She enjoyed it, I thought the performances were great and a believable chemistry between the lead actors. Not my kind of story, but others we spoke to gave mixed comparisons to the film. I have never seen the film, so I was at least able to appreciate the production as it was without comparison. Worth a look at.

4.0 star rating Ruth Chaplin from London, England

BETTER THAN ANTICIPATED

I had no interest in this; fairytale about prostitute falling in love with millionaire and he with her. Maybe that is why I enjoyed it. Didn’t expect much but was pleasantly surprised. My son took me for my Christmas present. I go to the theatre a lot and wanted to go with him to see what he wanted and he booked this. We both enjoyed it. Music good; nothing particularly memorable but I was tapping my feet. Go with an open mind; don’t compare to the film ( although a lot is the same) and enjoy.

AN ENTERTAINING EVENING, NOT FOR THE CLAUSTROPHOBIC

It’s an entertaining spin on the movie with some great production touches. Solid performances all round, the concierge the standout. The original songs a bit hit and miss, but it all adds up to an enjoyable night out. Biggest criticism is the venue - beautiful Victorian era theatre and you can feel the history. It is however cramped… seats are small and not very comfortable. It was so warm that I broke into a sweat… thankfully I wasn’t on a date!

4.0 star rating Mick Millership from Sherwood Forest UK

A REALLY GOOD UPTAKE ON THE FILM

Having viewed Pretty Woman the film ( I've lost count) the show really pick up on pertinent points of the film making it easy to follow. The stage sets and actors were excellent. My only problem was total lack of the songs that I expected to hear. The only one from the film being Pretty Woman! Having said that the songs in lieu we good and represented the story. Fully entertaining and enjoyed. The venue was poor with total confusion and gridlock at interval for wc and drinks. We didn't end up with a drink that was probably good due to extortionate prices. If you are a Pretty Woman fan we'll worth a visit !

OK BUT NOT GREAT

The chemistry between Vivienne and Edward was disappointing. Sometimes if felt like the players were in a rehearsal. Sometimes the dancers were out of sync. The band lacked presence. Other shows we have seen recently were sleeker. Disappointing given Pretty Woman is one of my favourities.

3.0 star rating Italian from London, England

BIG, BIG MISTAKE. HUGE.

Recreating the same magic embodied by Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman, is a hard task. Bringing back one of the most romantic comedies in musical style, keeping only the stupidities is Big, huge. If you expected to, at least, enjoying the songs of the iconic movie soundtrack (Robert Palmer's engaging "Life in Detail" or Lauren Wood's sophisticated "Fallen" for example) you will be disappointed. We have to be realistic: be ready to listen a sequence of embarrassing, and cheesy new songs. And the main problem the main character: Vivian Ward. Sure, Aimie Atkinson is not Julia Roberts, but her Vivian is an unusual and umpleasant mix between Eliza Doolittle and Marilyn Monroe. But she has none of Vivian Ward's charm and persistence. How does someone like Edward Lewis, a handsome, mysterious and smart individual, falling in love with her? Danny Mac, at least, is almost sexy like Gere (big, huge compliment) but the bad writing effects his good performance.

3.0 star rating Liz from London, England

BAD VIEWS - NEEDS RE-STAGING

Cast spent too long using the very front of the stage for no good reason. Anyone up on the balconies were craning over to see what was happening, effectively making all of those seats restricted views. No need to use that space all the time - rethink it and keep the cast the other side of the music pits. Wasn’t an issue when I saw dreamgirls at the same theatre. The rest was ok - not remembering any of the songs but generally had fun and stayed true to the film. Not setting my work on fire but solid performances and an entertaining night.

3.0 star rating Ian MC from London, England

GO WITH AN OPEN MIND

No musical for Pretty Women will ever live up to the film. But if you just want an entertaining evening then this does tick the box. Whilst some parts don’t work it is entertaining with some great performances from a lot of the cast. A lot of the other reviews that point out the failings of the show are correct. But it is entertaining and whilst not perfect if you don’t pay too much for a ticket then you won’t feel short changed. The whole cast received a standing ovation at the end, the audience clearly enjoyed their evening / I don’t want to criticise it as everyone is doing the best job they can / and overall whilst not perfect it was fun

PRETTY WOMAN

My daughter and I love musicals and have seen most of them (she lives in London) and were very excited when we got tickets to see Pretty Woman on Sat 29th Feb. The excitement soon changed as this production was certainly not up to scratch - couldn't warm to the leading lady, wrong choice in all respects. I would comment on the fact that the dress she wore to the polo match was BLUE and not BROWN as in the film and also why put her in such long white gloves with her red opera dress. They were so long they were tucked in under her sleeves which made it look as though she was wearing bandages on each arm!!! Dreadful - big mistake!!Can't understand why audiences are allowed to take in drinks. The middle aged couple next to us had a bottle of wine and after drinking it all in the first half, fell asleep after the interval and never woke up until the end. Maybe the performance sent them to sleep - but what a waste of money! Best performance was by the Hotel Manager who played many parts.

PRETTY WOMAN, SAVOY THEATRE, LONDON

My daughter and I were super excited to watch Pretty Woman The Musical. It had been put back 3 times due to the pandemic so to go to the theatre again was so exciting! However, we were left a little "underwhelmed". Not sure if it was nerves as the show only opened the day before, but some of the performances were not great. Stand-out performances were by Danny Mac as Edward and Bob Harms as Mr Thompson. Vivian was a bit vanilla (not great casting) and some of the ensemble looked like they didn't want to be there! If you didn't know the story, you would wonder why it is called Pretty Woman. It looked and felt a bit amateur-ish; not what you'd expect at £150 a ticket. Such a shame as we were so looking forward to it!

PRETTY WOMAN

This is my favourite film of all time so was looking forward to the musical but was totally underwhelmed by it, Danny mac was good but I think they chose the wrong actress to play Vivian coupled with the fact that there was no music from the original film it was quite a let down.

IF YOU LOVE THE MOVIE YOU WON’T LOVE THIS

Really disappointed, as a super lover of the film disappointed with this. As well as the story of the film you love the songs but the show doesn’t have those, so it’s just a quick version of the movie missing some iconic moments. Unfortunately didn’t feel the leading lady did any justice to Vivian and missed this she was portrayed in the film. The gentleman who played the hotel manager was good and played the part well, disappointed Edward was replaced with understudy had come to see Danny Mac. I would recommended this to a pretty women film lover it’s just not the same. Some other comments mention the outfits and I would agree felt they wardrobe budget was impacted by covid or something!

DISAPPOINTED

We went to see the pretty woman with high expectation, but to our surprise its the opposite. I wouldnt say it just a waste of money bec watching musical is an experience of a lifetime but sad to say it is. It is nothing like the movie, its far from the movie, all of the songs that are in the movie wasnt in the musical except for the pretty woman song itself that was played in the last part of the show but not expectaculous. Very very disappointed. I thought it was going to be better than it was.

PRETTY WOMAN SUNDAY 20TH FEB

Totally Disappointed... I purchased these tickets for my Daughter who is a big fan of Danny Mac , She was totally upset to see he was replaced by an understudy who had no Charisma or charm and the leading lady was also replaced by a debut actress who with Edward had no chemistry whatsoever . As well as the story of the film you love the songs but the show doesn’t have those, so it’s just a quick version of the movie missing some iconic moments. The gentleman who played the hotel manager was the best thing about the show and played the part brilliantly , At £200 for tickets we feel totally robbed .

2.0 star rating Jane Cheadle from South Wales, UK

VERY DISAPPOINTED

After being rescheduled twice during the pandemic I was really looking forward to this show - it was a HUGE disappointment. The staging and production was very poor and amateurish. Not a sign of the cars at the beginning or end, if Miss Saigon can do an amazing helicopter scene surely a car would be possible!! For the price of the tickets, I expected more 😔👎

PRETTY WOMAN BORING

Thought costumes were like something from a school play as well as the acting Vivienne American accent to loud and screeching along with her co actress very disappointed

REALLY COULDN’T RECOMMEND.

Set was good and Mr Thompson the hotel manager gives a good performance but sad to say fell well below expectations. Difficult to live up to the film but the music and lyrics were instantly forgettable.

AN ABOMINATION GREAT MOVIE AWFUL NON MUSICAL

Simply dreadful , sets were amateur as someone else had suggested like a cruise ship performance , and the songs were banal ,lyrically bland and totally unmemorable . Not a cheap night out avoid at all costs you will not have any regrets don’t say you were not warned .

1.0 star rating Katherine Phelps from Manchester

WHY DID I THINK THIS WOULD BE ANY GOOD

We all loved the movie but this musical is sub par and discredits the movie the songs are forgettable and lyrically banal bringing nothing to the production which as it’s musical seals it as dull. Sorry but it’s a non event

1.0 star rating Matthew Aquilato from Wimbledon

SHOULD D THE REVIEWS MORE CAREFULLY

An expensive night out and a mistake was so excited but very very dissapointed , would not want to see others waste their hard earned ££ . Only one song stayed with us and that was Roy Orbison nothing else was memorable

1.0 star rating Sally Pope from London, England

PRETTY LACKING IN MEMORABLE SONGS ETC

With so much choice this was a bad one to make and not cheap , read the others reviews as they are right on the money . Performed with gusto but what a shame not one song that is even remotely memorable who wrote this as obviously not someone who has even seen a musical . ( oh someone told me it was a musician from the 80’s ,no wonder they are stuck in a time warp) sadly cannot recommend on any level .

1.0 star rating Barbara Russell from Hammersmith

MUSICAL WHAT MUSICAL

The non musical of the year , not one song I could sing on leaving the theatre or even remember that may not be important but it is called a musical , last yea we saw the carol king musical now that was something

TOOK A CHANCE SADLY

Happened to have a free night and saw this was new , loved the movie sadly this does not carry its own , found some of the performances good but all performers were let down by the songs which are very very average who wrote them .? as haven’t heard of the writers

UNORIGINAL AND DULL

Really cannot express my dissapointment with this it is simply not very good sorry as I so wanted it to be great but it starts with the songs which were inexcusable

AWFUL

It was one of the worst musicals I’ve ever seen what a waste of £100 I was disgusted and walking out halfway through this is not a musical utter rubbish was so disappointed wouldn’t recommend to anyone wasting there money.

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY

My friend bought her & I tickets to go and see this together for my birthday as it’s our favourite film. To begin with the theatre was far to hot & uncomfortable we were sat at the very back in the corner with hardly any leg room and were leaning forward. Vivian was annoying & the show was cheesy. Maybe pretty woman shouldn’t be a musical. We decided to leave in the interval as we couldn’t of sat through any more of it. We went into the hotel instead and drank cocktails which was absolutely stunning.

1.0 star rating Mumby from Leicester UK

AWFUL

Was so looking forward to it but it was awful I felt the ensemble didn't wanted to be there very amateurish it was embarrassing to watch and I couldn't left at the interval a waste of money plenty of other good shows to see in the west end but not this one

1.0 star rating Sheila Naylor from London, England

PRETTY WOMAN

Was really looking forward to going back to the theatre. Paid £300 for 2 tickets and begrudged every penny. Totally underwhelmed- have seen better am dram productions. Costumes and especially wigs dreadful, songs mundane was without doubt worst musical I’ve ever seen. When looking for a night out at the theatre go to a different show

1.0 star rating M T P from London, England

WORST MUSICAL I HAVE EVER SEEN

I am afraid the worst musical I have seen in years!! Very bad songs, costumes, wigs awful, instead of singing, they were screaming. It was very amateurish. The songs are boring and awful. What a waste of money!! Theatre is very small, hot and seats extremely uncomfortable. We left after the first part, and the door man kept chasing after us, telling us there was a second Act!! We felt embarrassed to tell him that it was a very bad musical and we were leaving. I cannot understand how there are people given the musical a good review. I am afraid they do not know what a good musical is about and there are many good ones in the West End!! Do not waste your money!!
