NOT QUITE AS GOOD!

Having seen this fab show many times I couldn't wait to view it in its new home. Not a fan of the new lead( Michael who was a swing last year. He doesn't bring any greatest to this role which a lead should. Very very average performer for me . Over acts with a lot of off key notes. He hasn't improved really in the time he has been in the show. Anyway went to see the understudy sandy moffart as having seem him in ROA last year really enjoyed his singing voice. Again not quite as good at this part that you would expect. His voice just struggled with the high notes throughout the show. I know it's only a few shows in for him but the standard has really dropped since Ryan left.

BETTER FRANKIES.

Have seen this show several times as I am a big fan. Have read the last review re Michael Watson. Have seen Ryan Malloy, Dan Burton Ben Jennings and others play Frankie. In my opinion which is consistent with other peoples observations, the best two have been Ryan and Ben. Ryan has gone probably due to cost cutting and age. What I don't get is Ben Jennings demotion to third cover when he is of a higher quality in every aspect of performance than either Michael Watson or Sandy. Michael is adequate in the role but no more than that and will always struggle to match Ben. It is only my opinion which will not make any difference, but it should be about the best performer for the role and this is not what we are getting. If you haven't seen the show before, then maybe you will be satisfied but not the regular visitors who can see the difference!

JERSEY BOYS

Having read previous reviews chill out guys! It's only a show! Nobody is saying these guys can't do it. Just some performers are a different quality. It's like picking a burger or steak. Both do the job but one is considered better. Everyone is entitled to an opinion so shouldn't take it personal. I'm sure when actors take on this as a career they know you will get good/ bad reviews. It's all part of the job. I have seen this show a fair few times over the years. So have seen the excellent as well as the not so. Remember people are cast for many different reasons. Not always down to just pure talent. There have been a couple of stand outs for me but both are not playing the lead this year. So new audiences won't know any different. I have also seen the new leads this year. Not the same standard , which is a shame., this often happens after a show has been running a while. It's called making more money for the producers!

STILL A GREAT SHOW! JUST NOT 5 STARS!!

Very appealing show with really famous songs with slick movements to go with them while sung. Not a great storyline but the music more than makes up for it. Casting not as good as previous years but as long as the lead can get through the show I'm sure the audience doesn't really care! Most shows downgrade from top performers after a few years as they can get away with paying top money. This seems to be normal as a show can normally carry itself on its name alone after it's been running a few years. I have seen every lead/cover for this show now. It's again not that the performer can't do it just not as brilliant as a lead should be. Makes it worst when you have seen the best that's why it's annoying as I'm sure you could get the very best if the producers wanted too. I have seen far better than this year so I know ex cast members who have been far superior. Just a shame it all comes down to cutting costs when you know these shows make a lot of money!

NOT AS GOOD AS EXPECTED

Music was fantastic ,but songs were cut short by dialogue on many occasions ,too much chat and not enough music. No finale as such ,just sort of fizzled out ,disappointed ,expected more

SEATING VERY UNCOMFORTABLE

The show was quite good music wise but very frugal and cheap in respect to effects, you need a really good imagination. The seating in the dress circle was so hard and uncomfortable I was glad when the show was over. Overall I would say not worth the money!

NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

Only gave this show low stars as the lead was terrible! The supporting cast were brill. Felt let down as the tickets were not cheap. This show has been really hyped up but didn't come up to the levels of other well known shows in London. The actor Michael Watson couldn't Maintain the fast pace of the songs. He sang off key. The solo in the second act was awful. Won't be going back.

What we thought

If you've seen it before, I recommend seeing it again to see how the new cast and theatre, and newcomers will delight in the sheer toe-tapping fabulousity of the numbers.

Even if you weren't a twinkle in your parents' eyes in the Sixties, Jersey Boys has plenty of catchy non-stop hits that you are bound to recognise.
