Why See If You Kiss Me, Kiss Me?
This "Little Voice" returns to the London stage in March 2016
Jane Horrocks will star in her very own musical next March, which will see her celebrate her youth with an all-singing, all-dancing (and absolutely no talking) recap of post-punk northern new wave music. Expect to hear the talented singer-actress cover renditions of music by the likes of Soft Cell, Joy Division and the Human League. Directed by Aletta Collins of the Royal Opera House and behind the hugely successful Bend It Like Beckham, this celebration of this Northern star will play for a limited period only at The Young Vic.
What to expect
Whilst not taking a linear approach to storytelling (which does away with the need for talking!), the overarching theme will take on her younger life and love, taking a much darker turn than her sweetly naive breakout role in hit film Little Voice where she successfully mimicked the voices of Shirley Bassey and even Edith Piaf! Horrocks took to the stage last year in East is East, playing the stoic English matriarch to family of mixed-race children in mid-Seventies' Bradford.
