York Theatre Royal’s stage production of E Nesbit’s 1906 novel The Railway Children is to be staged in the former Eurostar terminal at Waterloo Station Theatre this summer. A specially created auditorium will be constructed around the disused tracks with the audience seated on both sides of the track and the action taking place on the platforms and the track itself.

LAURENCE OLIVIER AWARDSAt last the waiting is over, and after all the excitement of the most glamorous night on West End, the 2010 Laurence Olivier Awards were officially announced at Grosvenor House on Sunday, 21 March. A host of A-list actors turned out for Britain's stage equivalent of the Oscars.
Rachel Weisz was among the big winners at the Laurence Olivier Awards, picking up the Best Actress trophy at the glitzy awards ceremony. The star was honoured for her performance in A Streetcar Named Desire. Mark Rylance was awarded Best Actor for his performance in Jerusalem.
Other winners included Rupert Goold, who picked up Best Director for Enron, and Weisz's co-star Ruth Wilson, who was named Best Supporting Actress.
Musical Wicked won the Audience Award, while Spring Awakening claimed four prizes, including Best New Musical and Best Sound Design
Nica Burns, Society of London Theatre (SOLT) president, said: "The Olivier Awards reflect a year of outstanding creativity and production excellence which brought the public rushing to the theatre, taking box office and attendance records to an all-time high. "The London theatre is a shining light in the continuing recessionary gloom - something we can all be proud of."
