NOT ENGAGING

O dear. After the disaster that was Carmen, we were hoping the Almeida would be back on form. It was rather dire. Ben Wishaw is a camp dionyssius and oddly has a low presence on stage. The chorus are dreadful and we could have done without their wailing and shreiking. The black paint blood substitute left over from carmen is much in evidence. The reception from the audience was lukewarm to say the least.
