What he (Michael Flatley) has done, with Irish dancing, is comparable to what Andre Rieu has done with orchestras. He has made it showbusiness.
The Telegraph
The Irish dance phenomenon that is Michael Flatley is back and taking on the role he originated as the Lord of the Dance returns to the West End. The new show that saw a massively successful run at the Palladium in Autumn 2014 and now Flatley will be dancing for 16 special performances only, on Friday and Saturday nights from 8 May to 27 June.
This brand-new production, dubbed Dangerous Games is a must-watch for Celtic dance fans of all ages, paving the way for a brand-new generation of 'Lords' (James Keegan, Morgan Comer and Mathew Smith) to keep Flatley's astonishing dance legacy alive. But now the master dancer is back and ready to show these bright young things how it's done!
Dangerous Games will see three 'Lords of the Dance' lead a troupe of 40 young dancers in celebrating the drama and darkness of Irish folklore, of which Flatley is a huge fan. Expect danger, stunning dance moves, and a dramatic storyline that will take you through the battle of good vs evil! With new technology including holographs and dancing robots, it's certainly a revamp for the typically traditional dance company.
