Why See How The Other Half Loves?

Plays

transferring to the Duke of York's Theatre

After a successful run over at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, Alan Ayckbourn's much-missed farce moves into a new home at the Duke of York's Theatre. A hilarious exploration of extramarital affairs and the hapless attempts to cover them up, How The Other Half Loves concerns three couples, The Fosters, The Phillips' and The Featherstones and the explosive fallout from two rather trying dinner parties.

The original cast, including Jenny Seagrove, Nicholas Le Prevost as Frank Foster, Matthew Cottle and Gillian Wright will be reprising their roles, with Andrea Lowe taking over as Teresa Phillips from Tamzin Outhwaite.

BUT HOW DO THEY? THE STORY OF HOW THE OTHER HALF LOVES

Bob Phillips is having an affair with Fiona, his boss Frank's wife. As their spouses begin to suspect something amiss, they both cite the quiet Featherstones, William and Mary. Finding themselves stuck in the middle of the warring couples and on the receipt of an invitation to two dinner parties, on successive nights, things get very heated as Bob and Fiona's deception finally outed. Ayckbourn's most popular play, this farcical depiction of class, manners and married couples has been warmly received back on to the West End stage this year, and it is likely the move will only boost its popularity!
