Why See Wonder.land?

Musicals

WELCOME TO A BRAND-NEW WORLD

With music competantly provided by musician Damon Albarn, this brand-new musical from the National Theatre and directed by Rufus Norris sees a young tween girl pulled into a radical virtual world inspired by Lewis Carroll's iconic Alice in Wonderland. The musical sees catchy and infectious songs, and makes full of use of modern technology such as video projection and edgy lighting to recreate the weird and otherworldly WONDER.LAND.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Aly, a 12-year old girl is living a miserable existence. Bullied by her peers at school and suffering with an unhappy home life, she seeks solace online in order to escape the pressures of her classmates, parents and teachers. In this shadowy world, Aly meets an eclectic host of characters who seem strangely familiar. Upon entering wonder.land, Aly becomes brave and bold Alice, - and discovers a different, more fearless side to herself that she never dreamt possible. There she meets the Cheshire Cat, the terrifying Red Queen and and a pair of oddities called Dum and Dee.

But as hard as Aly tries to keep these two worlds apart, her real life and wonder.land begin to overlap in ever more curious - and ultimately dangerous - ways. Can Aly learn to overcome her fears and break free of the wonder.land enigma?

A timely cautionary parable for young teens and parents alike, Monica Buffini (Tamara Drewe, Handbagged)'s eclectic tale of online intrigue is set to stretch and capture your imagination!
