A Midsummer Night's Dream Reviews

BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE FROM ALL THE CAST
I was looking forward to this because of the big names, David Walliams and Sheriden Smith but the whole cast were amazing. This was an inspired interpretation of a well known text which made people laugh out loud in sheer enjoyment. The costumes of the fairies were great, and the acrobatic antics of the four lovers were incredible. Demetrius, Helena, Lysander and Hermia were quick witted, experts in slapstick and had the audience in stitches. If you get the chance, go and see it, you won't regret it.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM
Amazing production with an incredible cast. Highly accessible with the delivery of original Shakespearean language in a modern way. Great comic moments with exceptional performances from Oberon (Padraic Delaney), Puck (Gavin Fowler)and Helena (Katherine Kingsley). Walliams and Shaw are of course a delight, but all of the cast really do give wonderful performances and should be noted. As someone who isn't a big theatre fan, I was happily surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

BRILLIANT
Thoroghly enjoyed the production. Walliams and Sheridan were great. Loved the stage and woke up this morning still smiling about the production , which is always a good sign

DAVID WALLIAMS STOLE THE SHOW
Overall, it was a fantastic, funny, and close to flawless performance from the entire cast. Of course, many went to sent David Walliams. He did not disappoint. Bringing all of his charm and wit to the stage, if there was ever any doubt in my mind as to the comic genius of this man, it was truly laid to rest after watching his brilliant stage performance. Bit dramatic you say? Go see for yourself!

THE BEST NIGHT AT THE THEATRE I'VE HAD FOR YEARS
What a scintillating performance. What a great night out. Sure, there are critics but with its modern spin, this performance certainly makes Shakespeare more accessible and entertaining. Sheridan Smith and David Walliams are fantastic. The performance of the entire cast was flawless and captivating. I absolutely loved it. If you're reading this review and wondering whether to go, then I'd recommend you go and see this play as soon as you can. It's remarkable!

WELL WORTH A VISIT
I really enjoyed the performance. The fairy/hippie aspect may be clichéd but it works. Visually, the fairy scenes were stunning. David Walliams plays a character I've seen in him many times before but it works in this play. Sheridan was a star. It was a very commercial performance and can be enjoyed by anyone. I'd definitely recommend it.
Colin McLeod from London,
VERY POLISHED BUT STRUGGLED TO FIND THE RIGHT PACE
I must admit I found this production hard work. Sets, lighting, costume were wonderful but somehow the overall performance I attended seemed to be struggling to find that pulse that connects to an audience. Some flashes of excellence but overall just a bunch of actors spouting prose that, to me, failed to connect or communicate. Show did finally find the right gear right at the end when Walliams (playing the whole show as Frankie Howerd)had clearly been allowed to busk it, to the obvious delight of the audience who responded with warm and genuine laughter, which up to then had been polite and forced.
