Currently touring the UK, the BRB's stunning 2003 production will be sweeping into Sadlers Wells this October for three dates only. Faithful to the original French fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast is full of wit and romance, and provides a perfect follow up to the company's incredibly popular Cinderella.
When a handsome but cruel prince is transformed into a hideous beast along with his carousing friends during a hunt, he destined to face a lifetime of solitude and loathing within his castle - but only one thing can save him; the love of a kind woman. One day a poor merchant passes his castle and picks a rose bloom for his youngest daughter Belle; the angry Beast takes him hostage, until his selfless daughter offers her own life for her father's.
Held prisoner in the vast, opulent surroundings, at first Belle is afraid of her captor, but ultimately a friendship forms, and progresses into love.
Full of larger than life characters including Belle's two haughty step-sisters, an outrageous stepmother who hates Belle, a ball filled with animals and daring waltzes, this is a feast for both eyes and ears!
