...this is pure magic!
GQ Magazine
Steve Truglia, one of Britain's leading slight-of-hand and close-up-magic stars, amazes and mesmerizes in this hit show. Enjoying an extended run at the Royal Institute, The Card Shark Show is a magical spectacle like no other - shying away from the pyrotechnical pomp of Las Vegas-type shows, the stage-magic of this production is an altogether different beast.
During the initial run of the show, Truglia was promoted to the highest level of the Magic Circle, a prestigious organization dedicated to promoting the art and advancement of magic. Awarded the Silver Star, denoting that the highest possible standard in magical performance has been achieved, Truglia is also a record-breaking stuntman and performer, bringing an exciting physicality to his smoke and mirrors performance.
Shaped by the music-hall culture of the Victorian Era, the show takes the audience on an historical tour of characters, stories and techniques, from Medieval Witchcraft to the Wild West. Truglia's performance is very much in the spirit of the earliest magic shows; his famous slight-of-hand tricks are woven into a larger story told through film, art-history, and expositions about old-fashioned props. Expertly displaying a mix of exposition and illusion in his magical mastery, Truglia effortlessly pulls the audience in while offering up exquisite deception.
