Les Miserables Movie Re-Released In Cinemas!

Remastered version of the musical adaptation will be back in the movie theatres.

As the show is approaching its 40th anniversary on the West End, Universal Pictures and Cameron Mackintosh have announced the exciting news that the 2012 film adaptation of the musical will be showing in cinemas next month!

Based on the 1862 novel and stage musical, the Academy Award-winning movie, directed by Tom Hooper and produced by Cameron Mackintosh and Eric Fellner, was first released on December 25, 2012. The cast was no short of star power, with Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Samantha Barks, Aaron Tveit, Daniel Huttlestone, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen starring in the film.

Les Miserables received eight Academy Award nominations, including 'Best Picture,' and won 'Best Supporting Actress' for Anne Hathaway, 'Best Sound Mixing,' and 'Best Makeup and Hairstyling.' In total, this epic film received 158 nominations and won 53 awards, including Golden Globes, British Academy Film Awards, and Critics' Choice Movie Awards.

Making an astonishing $442 million worldwide upon its first initial release, this theatrical masterpiece will be showing in cinemas on 14 February 2024.


What is the story of Les Miserables?

Jean Valjean is released from prison after almost 20 years in captivity for stealing a loaf of bread, soon after, he breaks his parole and flees to start a new life free of crime. Eight years later, he has worked hard to give himself a better standing in life. However, none of his endeavours impress his embittered parole officer - the bloody-minded Javert - who will stop at nothing to see Valjean behind bars once again.

Like her father, Valjean's beautiful adopted daughter, Cosette, has to fight for what she wants in life when she falls in love with Marius, a student who has joined the burgeoning fight for justice in the streets of Paris. Will their love be enough to save him from disaster at the barricade?
