Tom Holland Returns To West End In Romeo & Juliet

The British actor swings from Spider-Man to Shakespeare this summer!

Best known for his recent depiction of nerd-turned-hero Peter Parker, Spiderman's Tom Holland has been announced as Romeo in the West End's upcoming version of the Shakespeare classic.

The play, running from May 11th to 3rd August at the Duke of York Theatre, welcomes Tom Holland back to the West End. Holland is no stranger to the stage, in fact, he first gained notoriety via his on-stage depiction of Billy Elliot in Billy Elliot: The Musical. Since then, Holland has gone on to become a staple in the Marvel Universe as friendly neighborhood Spiderman, while also starring in the critically acclaimed film The Devil All The Time' and the hit Apple-TV show The Crowded Room'.

"a pulsating new vision of Shakespeares' immortal tale of wordsmiths, rhymers, lovers and fighters"

Directed by Jamie Lloyd, this adaptation of the legendary tale has been described as a "pulsating new vision of Shakespeares' immortal tale of wordsmiths, rhymers, lovers and fighters". Lloyd is no stranger to Shakespeare (or Hollywood actors), with his last Shakespeare production taking place in 2013 with Sherlock star Martin Freeman. You can expect a different Romeo and Juliet than you are used to, thanks to the stripped-back minimalist approach of one of the world's most exciting directors.
