Vanessa Williams has been announced as the lead for the upcoming West End musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, featuring music by Elton John and Shaina Taub. In a recent teaser trailer, Williams, embodying her character Miranda Priestly, encourages viewers to secure their tickets promptly. She playfully urges, "Don't just sit there. Buy tickets."

The eagerly awaited production is scheduled to premiere on October 24 at the Dominion Theatre in London. Williams, known for her role as the chic Wilhelmina Slater on Ugly Betty, conveyed her enthusiasm, remarking, "Bringing Miranda Priestly to life in the West End is an absolute dream come true. Gird your loins, folks."

Having previously graced the West End stage in 2019's City of Angels and boasting an impressive Broadway repertoire including performances in Into the Woods, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Sondheim on Sondheim, The Trip to Bountiful, After Midnight, and POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive in 2022, Williams is no stranger to the world of theater.

Adapted from Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel and the 2006 film adaptation starring Meryl Streep as Priestly, the musical's script is penned by Kate Wetherhead, with Jerry Mitchell serving as director and choreographer. Additional casting announcements are expected shortly.
